The Arizona Medical Training Institute Phlebotomy Program is a 240 hour course that consists of an online portion, a classroom portion, and a clinical practicum. For the clinical practicum, students will be assigned a location and must be flexible because the schedule could change according to the needs of the assigned location.
Students must complete 100 hours of the clinical practicum at a designated clinical site and complete a minimum of 120 unaided collections to graduate. Upon graduating, students will be certified as Phlebotomy Technicians.
Students may also elect to take the exam offered by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) to become an ASCP Certified Phlebotomy Technician (PBT). This exam will cost students an additional $135.
This program has been approved by the Arizona State Board for Private Post-secondary Education. They are also currently in the process to becoming nationally accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for the Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).
